Mario was watching the sunset sink below the horizon. A long time has passed since Bowser's defeat. After sundown, Mario went to bed. when he woke up, it was still nighttime, so he decided to go to sleep again. When he awoke at night again, he went to check the time. Awkwardly, it was noon, yet the sun was not out. Little did he know what was happening, or why. All he did know was that he needed to find a way to let the light shine in again. Just as his mind was about to overflow with confusion, he discovered an odd book at his doorstep. It read:
"The legendary sunset shards were bestowed with the power of the sun in the ancient days of darkness, awaiting the discover of man. Once assembled into the Sunset stone, the first rays of light hit the land. The sun was born. The stone was placed under heavy guard in a holy sanctuary dubbed "The Sunlight Shrine". If the stone was to be shattered, the dark days would come again. The only chance to restore it would be to assemble it again..."
Within the book's bindings was attached a note.
"Dear Mario,
It's horrible, the sun is gone! If you get this, you know what you must do. Gather up the Sunset shards and assemble them at the Sunlight Shrine. Only you can save us from endless days of darkness. Please be careful, we don't know who or what could've done this. I wish you the best of luck.

And so, another one of Mario's epic quests begins. Can he rise to the challenge and restore the sun, or will the world never live to see the sun again?
